Faster Finish liners are an interim size (2-quart)
plant that provide growers an additional option when choosing
material to step-up.
Much larger in size than 4" or 1-quart
liners, they are comparable in size
to many 1-gallon plants, but at a lower cost. These liners can be potted into a 3-gallon pot in early
spring and most varieties will be saleable in the fall or early
the next spring.
This results in reduced labor costs, reduced fertilizer, weed
control, spraying and irrigation costs and provides a Faster
Finish to a saleable plant.
We propagate our cuttings in 2" x 4-1/2"
deep cells to promote a large, well-formed root system. After rooting, the cuttings are pruned and transplanted
into the 2-quart pots. The liners are pruned at least once (more, if needed) to
promote a well-branched plant and to encourage root development.
Optimum growth is obtained by the use of custom blends of Florikan slow-release fertilizer in the rooting medium and the
potting mix. We
step-up the cuttings before the root system becomes pot-bound
thus minimizing any transplant shock, and we try to deliver the
liners to our customers while the plants are at the optimum
stage for continued growth.
